We ran a long-haul IP/MPLS transmission between Poznań and Frankfurt – a stretch of roughly 1000 km – using our 400G QSFP-DD coherent modules in 8QAM mode. The twist? No external optical gear. No transponders. No muxponders. Just pluggables installed directly in the router.

The outcome: a stable 300G connection over a production network. Compact footprint, lower power draw, and a much simpler setup.

This is more than a proof of concept – it’s a glimpse into what’s possible when coherent optics are used right at the edge. It’s leaner, greener infrastructure… ready for scale.
