Maximize Your Fibre Capacity with DWDM Low Insertion Solution

GBC Photonics has launched a 48-Channel passive MUX/DEMUX DWDM with very Low Insertion Loss. Thanks to the special configuration of the DWDM TFF filters, the attenuation on individual channels is below 3.5dB, and the typical attenuation per channel is 3.0dB with the MON port. A dedicated monitoring port can be used to monitor the power of individual DWDM channels using the Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA). The measurement has no effect on running services and can be performed safely while the transmission is in operation.

The entire solution is located in the size of 1U. Thanks to an ITU Grid 100 GHz spacing, which allows the use of the maximum bandwidth of the C band, we enable 100 Gb, 200 Gb and even 400 Gb in the same DWDM system.

The 100 GHz grid also ensures that the solution is future-proofed to support high speeds that are not commercially available at the moment, for example 800 Gb. This is due to the fact that in the 100 Gb band, it is already possible to transmit up to 1Tb in accordance with the assumptions of technological standards. Thanks to very Low Insertion Loss, this solution forms the basis of the GBC Photonics Open DWDM System. Together with amplifiers and transponders, the solution supports a wide range of architectures, from simple point-to-point to amplified ring configurations.

The use of GBC Photonics’ Open DWDM Systems will significantly increase the network capacity by multiplying the potential of existing optical fibres. In larger scale networks, such as in data centres or networks with multiple nodes, this reduces the cost of additional cables and simplifies infrastructure management.
